"First Insurance Co. of HI. just got too expensive. Our Homeowner's insurance increased $300-$600 annually. I did not understand why. When I spoke to the (broker) GEICO agent, they got me something cheaper with another insurance company, but I could not make the payment in time. Since I didn't meet the deadline, the premium went up. After a month of dealing with GEICO I decided to go with someone local, right here in Kamuela, my hometown. I was tired of dealing with the impersonal, non-compassionate sales people at GEICO and a call center in who knows where!? The State Farm agent who helped us in Kamuela was Chris Simmons. To speak with someone on the same island who wanted to meet with us in person was such a relief! Chris answered my questions about a homeowner's policy- What is a Dwelling Extension? What is a deductible? Once the value of the home was established, he helped me understand the amount of coverage I should have in case the home were destroyed. Finally, he helped us save money by covering our automobiles, too. I am very thankful that there's a State Farm office in Kamuela and that the agent, Chris, took the time to meet with us and answer our questions.
